๐ถโโ๏ธ Walk with the Mayor Returns on April 12 in Westend and Connaught Heights ๐ถโโ๏ธ

As part of the annual WALK30 Challenge, New Westminster residents are invited to lace up their walking shoes and join Mayor Patrick Johnstone for a community walk through the cityโs neighbourhoods.
The next "Walk with the Mayor" event takes place on Friday, April 12, beginning at 1 p.m. at 22nd Street SkyTrain Station. The walk will wind through the Westend and Connaught Heights neighbourhoods, offering participants an opportunity to explore the area and engage in casual conversation with the mayor about city issues, ideas, and future plans.
The route, approximately 2.0 km and taking around 30 minutes, includes some elevation changes. The walk will highlight portions of the area slated for transformation under the 22nd Street Station Vision, a long-term plan to reshape the surrounding neighbourhood.
Walks as part of the WALK30 Challenge range from 25 to 45 minutes and take place rain or shine. No registration is requiredโresidents are simply encouraged to show up at the starting point on time and enjoy a stroll with their mayor.๐ธ

Garden enthusiasts have a chance to get their hands dirty and their patios blooming this spring with a hands-on workshop at New Westminsterโs Queens Park Greenhouse. On April 22, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., participants can craft their very own vibrant hanging basket, just in time for the growing season.
Attendees can select from 14โ or 18โ basket sizes, with the choice to create one or two baskets. The workshop includes all planting supplies, and expert guidance will be provided to help assemble a thriving, pollinator-friendly arrangement. These hanging baskets are designed to flourish from late May to mid-October and require full sun exposure.
For returning gardeners who already have materials from a previous workshopโsuch as a basket, pan, chain hanger, and wickโthereโs a Re-use Basket Workshop option available, making it an eco-friendly and cost-effective choice.
Spots are limited, and as of now, only one space remains, making early registration a must for those looking to bring home a burst of colour this season.
