Looking for a memorable night out with a creative twist? Brush Hour Paint Nights are lighting up venues across New Westminster and the Lower Mainland with their vibrant, beginner-friendly events that combine art, food, and fun.
Guests are invited to unwind and let their creativity flow as a professional artist provides step-by-step instruction to help participants create their own take-home masterpiece. Whether you're a first-time painter or a seasoned creative, the laid-back atmosphere encourages everyone to explore their artistic side—no experience necessary.
Each ticket includes a medium-sized canvas, all painting supplies, and use of an apron to keep clothes (mostly) paint-free. Attendees are encouraged to wear something they don’t mind getting a splash of color on, just in case creativity gets a bit messy.
Held in cozy local hospitality venues, these events also feature full food and drink menus with servers taking orders throughout the night. While the instructor will guide participants through a featured painting, those who want to follow their own inspiration are more than welcome to do so, with a wide range of paint colors available for experimentation.
Brush Hour is not just about the painting—it’s about the experience. Whether you arrive solo or with friends, you’ll be surrounded by like-minded people ready to share laughs, stories, and maybe even a new friendship or two.
Tickets tend to sell out quickly, so early reservations are encouraged. Attendees can book their spots through the official website.
By supporting Brush Hour Paint Nights, participants are also supporting a small local business with big dreams and an even bigger love for the arts..

Heritage New West is once again opening the doors to the past with this year’s much-anticipated Heritage Homes Tour, featuring twelve carefully selected venues that highlight the city's architectural elegance and rich historical roots.
Among the featured locations are seven private residences, many making their debut on the tour or returning after years of absence. From the clean lines of Prairie Style architecture to the intricate details of Queen Anne Revival homes, each stop offers a glimpse into New Westminster’s storied past and the craftsmanship that defines it.
One highlight of the tour is the return of Irving House—an iconic landmark and a cornerstone of the event that has been featured in all 43 editions of the Heritage Homes Tour. Its continued presence underscores its role as a symbol of the city's enduring architectural legacy.
This year’s theme, “On the Homefront,” adds a special layer of meaning to the event, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Visitors will discover stories of service and sacrifice woven into the walls of these elegant homes, many of which played unexpected roles during wartime—from housing military personnel to supporting the local war effort in quieter, unseen ways.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply looking to step back in time, this self-guided tour promises a thoughtful journey through the city’s unique heritage and wartime past—one home at a time.
