For over 20 years, JMT Roofing has been a trusted name in the roofing industry, serving homeowners and businesses across Metro Vancouver. Owned and operated by John Jaswal, JMT Roofing is known for its quality craftsmanship, commitment to customer satisfaction, and reliable roofing solutions tailored to withstand the region’s unique climate.
Challenges in the Roofing Industry
John shares that one of the biggest challenges in the roofing business is navigating unpredictable weather. "Rain delays are common in our industry, and scheduling projects while ensuring safety and quality is always a balancing act." Another challenge is educating homeowners about proper roof maintenance. "A lot of people only think about their roof when there’s a leak, but regular inspections can save them from costly repairs down the road."
Common Misconceptions About Roofing
Many homeowners believe that all roofing materials are the same, but John clarifies that quality makes a significant difference. "Not all shingles are created equal. We use high-quality materials that offer better durability and longer warranties." Another misconception is that roofing is just about installation. "A good roofer doesn’t just put on a roof—they ensure proper ventilation, insulation, and drainage to protect the home."
JMT Roofing’s Commitment to Customer Satisfaction
JMT Roofing prides itself on delivering excellent service from start to finish. "We don’t just do the job and leave—we take the time to answer questions, provide warranties, and make sure customers are happy with the final result," John explains. Many of their clients come from referrals, a testament to the company’s reputation for integrity and quality work.

Staying Ahead with Technology
John has embraced new technology to improve efficiency and transparency. "We use drone inspections and digital reports to show homeowners exactly what’s happening on their roof. This helps them understand the condition of their roof and make informed decisions."
What’s Next for JMT Roofing?
JMT Roofing is expanding its services to include more sustainable roofing options. "Eco-friendly roofing is gaining traction, and we’re excited to offer solutions that help homeowners reduce energy costs while being environmentally responsible."
Final Thoughts from John
John encourages homeowners to be proactive about their roofs. "If you’re unsure about your roof’s condition, get an inspection before small issues turn into major problems. We’re always happy to help."

A 68-year-old woman from New Westminster is recovering after being assaulted by a stranger at the Shops at the New Westminster SkyTrain Station on Saturday night.
The Victoria Hill resident, who wished to remain anonymous, had just finished dining at the Boathouse and was heading to Safeway to pick up a few items before catching her bus home. As she ascended the stairs on the Eighth Street side of the station around 8:40 p.m., an unidentified man suddenly struck her in the face.
The impact knocked her to the ground, causing her to hit her head. Despite the shock and pain, the woman believes she avoided more severe injury because she had turned slightly, reducing the force of the blow. The suspect immediately fled the scene.
A nearby security guard, who witnessed the incident, quickly rushed to assist the woman. A uniformed guard later escorted her to the Transit Police office, but it was closed. Shortly afterward, New Westminster police officers arrived on the scene.
While speaking with the police, the victim noticed the suspect near the Old Spaghetti Factory. However, before officers could apprehend him, he ran off once more.
Although she declined paramedic care at the time, the woman later visited the hospital after experiencing continued pain. Medical staff performed a CT scan and confirmed she had sustained bruising. Five days after the assault, she was still dealing with facial swelling and soreness from the fall.
The New Westminster Police Department confirmed the arrest of the suspect, who is known to police. Charges of assault are being recommended to Crown counsel. Authorities credited the swift response to enhanced foot patrols, made possible by federal funding.
The victim, a paralegal who frequently uses the SkyTrain station, expressed concerns about safety in the area. She called on the city to address the ongoing challenges related to public safety and support for vulnerable individuals. In the meantime, she urges others to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
