New Westminster is experiencing significant growth with large-scale redevelopment projects, including the $1.38-billion Pattullo Bridge replacement, numerous residential developments, and the $1.49-billion Royal Columbian Hospital upgrade. The city’s population is projected to grow by 72% by 2050. Neighboring Burnaby is also undergoing substantial transformation, with a $ 2.4 billion hospital redevelopment and numerous developments in the Metrotown area.

 🪶 Two Ways to Commemorate Truth and Reconciliation in New Westminster

New Westminster will offer two main ways to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in 2024. The Spirit of the Children Society will host a public event featuring cultural performances and reflections, while educational resources will be available to deepen community engagement. The day is dedicated to recognizing the impacts of residential schools on Indigenous communities and fostering healing and learning.
