Residents in the New Westminster-Burnaby-Maillardville riding will have the chance to hear directly from all five federal election candidates during an all-candidates meeting hosted by the Queensborough Residents Association. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Queensborough Community Centre, located at 920 Ewen Avenue.

All five individuals vying for the riding's seat have confirmed their attendance. Voters can expect to hear from:

  • Peter Julian (New Democratic Party)

  • Indy Panchi (Conservative Party of Canada)

  • Jake Sawatzky (Liberal Party of Canada)

  • Tara Shustarian (Green Party of Canada)

  • Lourence Almonte Singh (Independent)

Doors open early, and residents are encouraged to arrive ahead of the 7 p.m. start time to secure a seat.

The structured format of the evening will give each candidate three minutes to introduce themselves, explain their motivations for running, and outline their vision. Following these opening remarks, candidates will be asked a series of pre-distributed questions, with each receiving two minutes per response in a rotating order.

To wrap up, each candidate will be given an additional two minutes for closing statements. The formal portion of the event is expected to conclude by approximately 8:30 or 8:40 p.m., after which attendees will have an opportunity to mingle with the candidates and ask questions one-on-one until 9 p.m.

The event offers an important opportunity for local voters to hear from those seeking to represent them and to engage directly in the democratic process.d.
