 🎶 Experience the Beauty of Dusk with “Music of Twilight” at Anvil Theatre

The Vancouver Chamber Music Society (VCMS), in collaboration with Anvil Theatre, invites audiences to an afternoon of evocative chamber music with the Academy Chamber Players. Their upcoming concert, "Music of Twilight," will take place at Anvil Theatre and promises an immersive exploration of dusk’s emotional landscapes through works by Boccherini and Schoenberg.

The program opens with Boccherini’s Guitar Quintet No. 4 in D Major “Fandango,” a lively piece infused with Spanish rhythms and vibrant melodies. The quintet’s dynamic interplay will bring to life the joyous spirit of the traditional Fandango dance, showcasing the distinct resonance of the guitar alongside the strings.

The concert will then shift to Schoenberg’s powerful "Verklärte Nacht" (Transfigured Night), a profound string sextet inspired by Richard Dehmel’s poetic narrative of love and redemption. The musicians will navigate the dramatic emotional shifts and lush harmonies, capturing the piece’s haunting beauty and emotional complexity.

Performers include Simon MacDonald and Domagoj Ivanovic on violin, Isabelle Roland and Tawnya Popoff on viola, Henry Shapard and Jonathan Lo on cello, and Alec Pearson on guitar.
