The New Westminster Police Department has teamed up with the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) to provide residents with a free and secure way to recycle unwanted electronics. This initiative is a convenient opportunity for spring cleaning while ensuring the protection of personal data.

Participants can drop off their old electronics using the designated drive-through service or park and unload their items with the assistance of volunteers. Before donating, all devices must have remote management features disabled, and security measures like passwords and BIOS locks removed. This step is essential to prevent data breaches when devices are refurbished or redistributed.

ERA will ensure all donated electronics are professionally cleaned of data. Suitable devices may be refurbished for reuse or recycled responsibly.

Accepted Items

The following electronic devices are eligible for donation:

  • Consumer Electronics: Gaming consoles, MP3 players, and stereo equipment

  • Desktop Computers: PCs, Macs, monitors, and parts

  • Handheld Devices: Smartphones, cell phones, and tablets

  • Laptops: Both PCs and Macs, including docking stations and accessories

  • Printers and Scanners: Inkjet, Laserjet, plotters, copiers, and fax machines

  • Peripherals: Keyboards, mice, CD/DVD drives, and related accessories

  • Phone Systems

  • Servers and Racks: Including server racks and lab equipment

  • Software: Operating systems and other applications

  • Networking Equipment: Switches, routers, and other specialty items

Household appliances and non-electronic items will not be accepted. By responsibly recycling electronics, residents contribute to reducing e-waste and supporting a sustainable future.

For additional information, contact the New Westminster Police Department or visit the ERA’s website.

The Queen’s Park Preschool (QPPS) invites community members to an evening of fun and fundraising at its annual silent auction, held at the Royal City Curling Club on Saturday, April 5. This adults-only event is a key opportunity to support the preschool’s programming while enjoying a night out with friends and neighbors.

Tickets are priced at $20, which includes appetizers and a complimentary drink. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the silent auction will conclude at 9 p.m. Guests will have the chance to bid on a variety of auction items, with over $8,000 worth of prizes up for grabs. Highlights include Fairmont High Tea experiences, sports tickets, family photo sessions, and Playland packages, among other unique offerings.

QPPS is a cherished part of the New Westminster community. As a parent-participation, play-based preschool, it fosters both early childhood development and family engagement. The collaborative model encourages parents to take an active role in their children’s education, contributing to a supportive learning environment.

With decades of history, it’s common to meet residents who either attended QPPS themselves or sent their children there. The preschool's hands-on approach offers cognitive, physical, emotional, and social benefits, ensuring a strong foundation for young learners.

Whether you’re looking to win exciting prizes or simply enjoy an evening out for a great cause, the Queen’s Park Preschool’s silent auction is a perfect way to connect with the community and show your support.

For more information, contact the preschool directly.

⛈️ Rain Joke of the Day 🌧️

💧 The sky was looking ominous so I asked Siri, “Surely it’s not going to rain again today?”

She replied, “Yes it is, and don’t call me Shirley.”☁️
