Discover Your Voice with Adams Voice Studio - A Local Gem in New Westminster!

Have you ever felt the urge to sing, to express yourself through melody, or simply to explore the potential of your own voice? Right here in our vibrant city of New Westminster, Melanie Adams, owner of Adams Voice Studio, is helping people of all ages and abilities unlock their vocal potential. From youngsters as young as five to enthusiastic octogenarians, Melanie's studio welcomes everyone with a desire to learn and grow musically.

Melanie's journey to establishing Adams Voice Studio is a testament to her passion for music and her connection to the community. After completing her Master's degree in music with a specialization in vocal performance at McGill and moving to the West Coast, Melanie quickly became involved in Vancouver's rich choral scene, singing with the Vancouver Chamber Choir and Musica Intima. Upon moving to New Westminster in 2003, she established her home studio and, seeking the flexibility of working for herself after the birth of her first child, Adams Voice Studio was officially born.

Melanie offers a comprehensive approach to voice lessons, encompassing singing techniques, music theory, and musicianship. Whether you or your child have dreams of performing on stage, wish to improve your choral singing, prepare for auditions at institutions like Douglas College or UBC, or simply want to enjoy the personal fulfillment that comes with singing, Adams Voice Studio provides tailored guidance. Melanie works with a diverse range of musical interests, from classical and musical theatre to pop and even helping singers with their choral repertoire.

What truly shines through in speaking with Melanie is her genuine joy in witnessing her students' progress. She firmly believes that with consistent effort, everyone can improve their singing, and it's incredibly rewarding for her to see their confidence blossom alongside their vocal abilities. She even holds recitals, including a special "performance party" just for her adult students, providing valuable opportunities to share their hard work in a supportive environment. As Melanie notes, many adults come to her with past experiences where they were discouraged from singing, making their progress and newfound confidence all the more meaningful.

Running a home-based business allows Melanie the flexibility she values, and it also contributes to the unique charm of Adams Voice Studio. While she acknowledges that sometimes home-based arts businesses aren't always taken as seriously as others, her dedication and the success of her students speak volumes.

So, how can you connect with this fantastic local resource? Melanie can be found online at melanieadams.duetpartner.com. You can also visit her Facebook page at facebook.com/AdamsVoiceStudio. Word of mouth has also been a significant way people find her, which speaks to the positive impact she has on her students. While she prefers email for initial contact, Melanie warmly encourages anyone curious about exploring their voice to reach out: [email protected]

Let's support the incredible local businesses that enrich our community. If you or someone you know has ever considered taking voice lessons, Adams Voice Studio offers a welcoming and encouraging environment to embark on that musical journey. You might just discover a hidden talent and experience the joy and confidence that comes with finding your voice!

The Queensborough Residents’ Association (QRA) is moving forward with its federal all-candidates meeting, with three contenders in the New Westminster–Burnaby-Maillardville race confirming their participation.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Queensborough Community Centre, located at 920 Ewen Avenue. It offers residents an opportunity to hear directly from candidates ahead of the upcoming federal election.

As of April 4, three candidates have committed to attending: Peter Julian representing the New Democratic Party, Jake Sawatsky for the Liberal Party, and Tara Shustarian with the Green Party.

The People’s Party of Canada has confirmed that it currently does not have a candidate in this riding. Jonathan Sheardown, previously linked to the PPC campaign in the area, is no longer running under the party’s banner.

The Conservative Party's presence in the riding remains uncertain. Lourence Singh, initially announced as the Conservative candidate, is challenging the party’s decision to remove him. Singh has launched a petition and his campaign signs remain visible around the community, including near the New Westminster SkyTrain station.

The QRA has reached out to the Conservative Party for clarification and continues to welcome confirmation from any remaining candidates. Those planning to participate can contact the association directly at [email protected].
