For over a decade, Bosley’s at Columbia Square has been a go-to destination for pet owners in New Westminster. As a specialty pet store, they take pride in offering expert guidance on pet nutrition, allergies, and overall well-being. Every staff member undergoes extensive training to provide informed recommendations, ensuring pets receive the best care possible.

Unlike big-box pet stores, Bosley’s focuses on quality over quantity, carefully curating their selection of pet foods, treats, toys, and accessories to ensure they meet the highest standards. Whether you’re looking for premium raw food, grain-free kibble, or specialty supplements, their knowledgeable team is always available to guide pet owners toward the best choices for their furry companions.

The 25% off sale has ended.

Bosley’s commitment to the community extends beyond retail. They actively support local rescues, coordinate donation drives, and use their connections to help pets in need. From hosting adoption events to partnering with local shelters, their efforts go a long way in making a difference for animals in New Westminster. Their dedication was recognized in 2023 with a Good Community Award, highlighting their ongoing contributions to the city—National Pet Valu Community award in 2022 amongst many other awards.

Beyond their work with rescues, Bosley’s regularly engages in community initiatives, including educational workshops for pet owners, fundraising campaigns for animal welfare organizations, and events that bring local pet lovers together. They believe that being a pet store means more than just selling products—it’s about building relationships and supporting the well-being of pets and their owners alike.

When asked about the future of Bosley’s Columbia Square, the team expressed deep appreciation for the community’s support. With the rapid growth of New Westminster and an increasing number of pet owners in the area, they remain focused on maintaining their high standards of service and care. They are always looking for new ways to better serve their customers, from expanding their selection of specialty pet foods to offering even more community-focused events.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 05! Bosley’s will be celebrating fourteen years in the community with special promotions and treats. It’s the perfect time to stop by, meet the team, and find something special for your furry friend.

For more details, visit Bosley’s Columbia Square in person or check them out online.

The City of New Westminster is considering two potential sites for a new artificial turf field: Terry Hughes Park or Ryall Park. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts at upcoming drop-in sessions:

📍 Terry Hughes ParkFebruary 10, 3:00-6:00 PM, near the playground
📍 Ryall ParkFebruary 20, 3:00-6:00 PM, Queensborough Community Centre lobby

If you’re unable to attend in person, feedback can also be submitted via email at [email protected]

This project aims to enhance sports and recreation opportunities in the community, and public input will help determine the best location.

Artificial Turf: Benefits & Drawbacks

Benefits of Artificial Turf:

  • Year-Round Use: Unlike natural grass, artificial turf remains playable in all weather conditions.

  • Lower Maintenance Costs: No need for mowing, watering, or reseeding.

  • Durability: Can withstand heavy use without becoming patchy or muddy.

  • Consistent Playing Surface: Provides even footing, reducing the risk of injuries caused by uneven grass.

⚠️ Drawbacks of Artificial Turf:

  • Higher Initial Cost: Installation can be expensive compared to maintaining natural grass.

  • Heat Retention: Artificial turf can become significantly hotter than natural grass in warm weather.

  • Environmental Concerns: Made from synthetic materials, turf fields don’t support local ecosystems and may contribute to microplastic pollution.

  • Limited Lifespan: Turf needs replacing every 8-12 years, leading to waste disposal concerns.!

The NWSS Music Auxiliary is hosting "The Unevent," a virtual fundraising campaign running from February 7 to 14. Instead of attending a traditional gala, supporters are encouraged to stay home, save on expenses like tickets, babysitters, and transportation, and enjoy a specially curated two-hour playlist of music.

Participants are invited to donate the amount they would typically spend on a fundraiser ticket. Donations can be made through the school district’s website, with contributors selecting the NWSS Music Fund at the bottom of the dropdown menu and noting that the contribution is for "The Unevent." Tax receipts will be provided for eligible donations.

Once the donation is complete, supporters can relax at home and enjoy one of the thoughtfully crafted playlists while knowing they’ve contributed to a great cause.
