Discover the art of gel printing, a fun and versatile printmaking technique that creates stunning, layered designs. Using a gel plate, artists apply paint in layers, which adheres to the plate until pressed onto paper. This allows for unique textures, color blends, and intricate patterns, making each print a one-of-a-kind creation.

In this hands-on workshop, instructor Crystal Koskinen will guide participants through gel printing techniques, helping them craft beautiful prints perfect for framing or gifting. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this class offers a relaxing and creative experience.

Open to individuals aged 16 and older, the workshop will take place on Saturday, February 8, from 12:30 to 2:30 PM at Queensborough Community Centre.

A man carrying a knife in downtown New Westminster on Saturday, February 1, was arrested a few blocks away later that evening, following a swift police response.

The New Westminster Police Department (NWPD) received a 911 call at approximately 5:45 p.m., reporting that a man had struck another person with his hand before entering River Market. Officers arrived quickly to assist the victim and locate the suspect.

Patrol officers later found the suspect a few blocks away, where he was arrested without incident. The victim, who spoke with police, declined hospital transport and had no visible injuries.

Some community members shared on social media that River Market had been evacuated during the incident. NWPD later confirmed that while the entire market was not cleared, the area around the upstairs bathroom was evacuated as a precaution.

NWPD thanked the public for their patience, acknowledging that their presence in the market may have been concerning for families and shoppers.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the assault and has not yet spoken to authorities to call 604-525-5411 and reference file number 25-1858.
