The annual A-List by the New West Record is back, showcasing the standout businesses and service providers that make New Westminster a thriving hub of quality, care, and community spirit. This much-anticipated compilation celebrates the top businesses, from local eateries to essential services, as chosen by the people who know them best β€” their loyal customers.

Every year, the New West Record invites residents to nominate and vote for their favorite businesses, highlighting the establishments that go above and beyond with exceptional customer service, responsiveness, and dependability. Whether it's a cozy cafΓ© known for its friendly staff or a reliable mechanic who always delivers, these are the businesses that residents love and trust.

The A-List serves as a community-driven guide, built from thousands of online poll responses. This process ensures the featured businesses truly reflect the preferences and experiences of the local community. It also introduces residents to hidden gems they may not have discovered otherwise.

Winning businesses are awarded the coveted A-List badge, a symbol of excellence and a testament to their outstanding reputation. By voting, participants not only support their favorite establishments but also contribute to a reliable resource for others in the community seeking trusted recommendations.

If you’re a fan of a particular shop, restaurant, or service provider, now is the time to make your voice heard and celebrate the places that consistently deliver excellence. Join the New West Record’s A-List initiative and shine a spotlight on the businesses that make New Westminster special.

Get ready to swing the night away at Jazz Cats Social – Joe Abbott's Swing Team! This lively event promises an evening of hot jazz, dancing, and community fun in the heart of New Westminster. Hosted by the Uptown Swing Collective in partnership with the City of New Westminster, this inclusive gathering is perfect for dancers, music lovers, and jazz enthusiasts alike.

The evening kicks off with a beginner swing dance lesson at 6:45 PM, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of experience. No partner? No problem! Afterward, enjoy live music from Joe Abbott's Swing Team, with opportunities for social dancing and toe-tapping fun.

Musicians are welcome to join in on the action! The event doubles as a jazz jam, inviting players to bring their instruments and perform alongside the band for a song or two. Simply check in with organizers upon arrival to get added to the list – and as a bonus, musicians get free entry!

Tickets, priced at $21 per person (16+), include light refreshments and the beginner dance lesson. Advance purchase is required as capacity is limited, and tickets are only available online.

The event takes place at Century House (620 Eighth St., New Westminster), conveniently located near several bus stops and ample parking. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer, an aspiring musician, or someone looking for a unique night out, Jazz Cats Social is the perfect way to experience the joy of swing and jazz.
