A new monthly Climate Films Series is kicking off to explore the urgent issue of climate change and highlight practical, solution-focused strategies. Hosted by Regenerate BC and the New Westminster Climate Action Hub, the series will screen a thought-provoking film on the second Wednesday of each month, followed by a discussion led by environmental advocate Karen Crosby.

The inaugural event will feature NOVA: Chasing Carbon Zero (2023), which delves into the ambitious U.S. goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and cut emissions by half by 2030. The documentary examines the technological advancements and innovations needed to make this target a reality, from renewable energy expansion and efficient building designs to transformative changes in the transportation sector.

Popcorn will be provided to attendees, who are encouraged to bring their own bowls. This event offers an opportunity to explore the science and strategies behind reducing carbon emissions while fostering community dialogue about one of humanity’s greatest challenges: mitigating the effects of climate change before it’s too late.

The Climate Films Series aims to inspire hope and action by focusing on existing solutions that could turn the tide in the fight against climate change.
