🧦 Help New West Seniors Feel the Joy of Christmas with London Drugs’ Gift Program
This holiday season, New Westminster shoppers have the chance to brighten the lives of local seniors through London Drugs’ annual Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program. The initiative, which runs until December 8, invites customers to make meaningful contributions by fulfilling gift wishes for seniors in need.
The program, active at all 80 London Drugs locations across Western Canada, has provided holiday gifts to over 75,000 seniors since its launch in 2015. Customers can participate by visiting their local London Drugs store and selecting a tag from the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors Christmas tree. Each tag contains a gift request from a senior, which can be purchased from any retailer and returned to the same store for delivery before Christmas.
The Westminster Centre London Drugs on Sixth Street still has tags available, waiting for shoppers to step in and help ensure no senior is left out during the festive season.
The initiative aims to address a growing crisis among seniors, many face financial challenges due to rising living costs. London Drugs notes that a large percentage of low-income seniors often run out of money for basic needs, and many in long-term care struggle to afford essentials like clothing or personal care items.
Through this program, seniors in care homes not only receive thoughtful gifts but also a sense of belonging and community. Organizers hope these small acts of kindness help rekindle fond holiday memories and combat the isolation often felt during this time of year.

The Vagabond Players are proud to present Tick, Tick... BOOM!, is the autobiographical musical by the late Jonathan Larson, the visionary creator of Rent. A powerful reflection on the life of an aspiring composer on the cusp of 30, Tick, Tick... BOOM! is a story of passion, dreams, and the pressures of time that resonates deeply with audiences.
Set in New York City in 1990, the musical follows Jon, a young composer grappling with the realities of pursuing a career in the arts while watching friends succeed in more conventional fields. Facing pressure from his girlfriend, Susan, to leave the city and settle down, and from his best friend, Michael, who has traded his creative dreams for a lucrative corporate job, Jon questions whether his sacrifice for his passion is worth it. With raw emotion, catchy rock tunes, and poignant storytelling, the musical offers a compelling glimpse into Larson's struggles before he created Rent, which would go on to become a Broadway sensation.
In this production, Nathaniel Johnson stars as Jon, bringing to life the character’s drive, self-doubt, and relentless pursuit of artistic success. He is supported by Aaron Cheung as Michael and Tiffany Oud as Susan, with Donovan Wood, Oliver Spilsbury, Sarah Prato, and Sophia Sauvageau rounding out the ensemble.
Directed by the Vagabond Players’ talented team, the show runs from November 28 to December 15, 2024, with evening performances every Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Additional Saturday matinees will be held on December 7 and 14.
Tickets are expected to sell out quickly for this dynamic and emotional production. You can purchase yours online at vagabondplayers.ca/tickets, or by calling 604-521-0412 to leave a message for the box office. For an even more memorable experience, gather a group of 10 or more and take advantage of special group rates.
Don’t miss this opportunity to experience Tick, Tick... BOOM! – a timeless story of following your dreams, set against the ticking clock of life.

🧑🦼 New Westminster’s Sunquest Mobility: Independence, Dignity, and Care

Home and Mobility Solutions
Sunquest Mobility, a family-owned business, Ehsan Tehran, also known as ET in New Westminster, British Columbia, is redefining how mobility challenges are addressed. Since its establishment in July 2021, this local business has been committed to providing exceptional mobility solutions, focusing on respect, care, and customer-centric support.
The owner of Sunquest Mobility began this journey during the pandemic after experiencing job loss. What started as a career shift quickly became a heartfelt mission to improve the quality of life for differently-abled individuals and their families. Witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by seniors, individuals with disabilities, and even their own parents—both cancer survivors—the owner recognized the pressing need for improved services and support in the mobility industry.
A Personalized Approach to Mobility Solutions
Sunquest Mobility offers a wide range of products to promote independent living, including mobility scooters, walkers, lift chairs, bathroom safety equipment, and rehabilitation aids. What sets Sunquest apart is its personal, empathetic approach. Each customer is treated as family, with the team taking the time to understand unique needs and provide tailored solutions.
The owner reflects on one memorable experience where a cultural stigma surrounding mobility aids was overcome. A customer, an elderly gentleman from India, initially resisted using a wheelchair due to feelings of inadequacy and a fear of losing dignity. Through patience, empathy, and education, the family and Sunquest team were able to change his perspective, enabling him to regain independence and confidence.
This heartfelt interaction epitomizes Sunquest Mobility’s mission: to not only provide essential equipment but also empower customers to view these aids as tools for freedom rather than limitations.
A Hands-On Commitment to Advocacy
The Sunquest team regularly engages with the community to understand the barriers faced by individuals with mobility challenges. The owner, in a personal effort to gain deeper insights, has even spent time navigating the city in a wheelchair. These experiences revealed both progress and ongoing gaps in accessibility, inspiring further advocacy for inclusive design and services in the region.
Building Awareness, Changing Lives
As Sunquest Mobility continues to grow, the business remains steadfast in its dedication to enhancing mobility solutions, fostering independence, and treating every individual with respect and compassion. By shedding light on these challenges and offering thoughtful solutions, Sunquest is making a meaningful difference in the lives of New Westminster residents.
