Prepare for a holiday experience like no other as A WONDERHEADS Christmas Carol reimagines the Charles Dickens classic with dazzling masks, whimsical puppets, and visual storytelling. This enchanting production returns to the Massey Theatre in New Westminster for two performances: Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.

Hailed as โ€œpure magicโ€ by CBC and โ€œfantastic, in every sense of the wordโ€ by the Cincinnati Enquirer, the show transforms Ebenezer Scroogeโ€™s journey into an awe-inspiring spectacle. The story is told without words, using the WONDERHEADS' signature full-face masks, intricate puppetry, and original music. Ghostly visitors come to life as glowing, floating, and towering 10-foot puppets, immersing the audience in a visually stunning world.

โ€œOur version of A Christmas Carol steps beyond words to dig deep into the heart of the story,โ€ said Kate Braidwood, co-creator and performer. โ€œAudiences can expect to laugh, cry, and be completely transported into a world of wonder.โ€

This marks the fourth year the production will grace the Massey Theatre stage, following enthusiastic receptions and sold-out shows. Due to popular demand, the 2024 run includes two performances to accommodate returning fans and newcomers alike.

The production, starring Kate Braidwood, Pedro M. Siqueira, Sarah Robertson, and Emily Case, was adapted and directed by Braidwood and Andrew Phoenix (the WONDERHEADS), with development by Jessica Hickman.

In addition to New Westminster, the tour will stop in North Vancouver (Dec. 11โ€“12), Victoria, and Nanaimo, spreading holiday cheer across B.C. and Alberta.

After a recent storm, New Westminster is preparing for another weather system expected to bring heavy winds and rain starting Tuesday night. According to Environment Canada meteorologist Ross Macdonald, the region will enjoy relatively calm weather with light showers and some sunshine from Sunday to Tuesday. Conditions will change dramatically by Tuesday evening.

Rain and Wind Arrive Tuesday Night
The next system will bring gusts of 70โ€“80 km/h to exposed coastal areas such as Tsawwassen, Delta, UBC, and Point Atkinson. Inland areas will experience milder winds, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h. Vancouver Island is expected to bear the brunt of the storm, making it a particularly stormy night for the region.

Rainfall from the storm will be lighter than previous events, with 20 to 30 mm anticipated in neighborhoods near the North Shore Mountains between Tuesday night and Wednesday. Lighter rain is expected to persist through Wednesday.

Another System on the Horizon
Looking ahead, another weather front is forecast to hit the region on Friday, November 22, though details remain uncertain. Early predictions suggest up to 22 mm of rain for downtown Vancouver on Friday.

โ€œWe're in the meat of November,โ€ says Macdonald. โ€œThere are lots of frontal systems and rainy days for us here in Vancouver.โ€

Vancouver residents are advised to prepare for windy and rainy conditions Tuesday night and stay updated on weather forecasts for Fridayโ€™s approaching system. Click Here
