On November 23, 2024, New Westminster will host a special recycling pop-up event at the Engineering Works Yard, located at 901 First Street, to help residents dispose of certain items not accepted in regular recycling bins. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., community members can drop off a range of depot-only recyclables and receive guidance from the city's Solid Waste and Recycling Team, who will be available to answer questions and provide recycling tips to reduce contamination.

Accepted Items for Drop-Off Include:

  • Soft and hardcover books

  • Soft, flexible plastics

  • Styrofoam

  • Textiles and clothing

  • Small household appliances (such as toasters and coffee makers)

  • Small scrap metals (like pots, pans, and broken tools)

Items that are not accepted at this event include large appliances, large scrap metals, large electronics, glass, garbage, and any other non-listed recyclables. Residents are encouraged to use the Recycle Coach app to find alternative locations for recycling or disposing of these items.

Residents can visit New West's recycling page for more information on recycling guidelines and ways to reduce contamination.

๐ŸŽ Discover Unique Crafts and Holiday Treats at the Royal City Gogosโ€™ Annual Sale

Our First Event for the Christmas Season

The Royal City Gogosโ€™ annual Artisan Craft Sale is back, offering an expanded selection of locally-made crafts and seasonal treats on November 23. This year, visitors will find 15 โ€œdepartmentsโ€ brimming with handmade items, including new offerings like menโ€™s beard oils, Parisian-inspired pendants, designer fabric cushions, and handwoven scarves. Festive Christmas dรฉcor is also on display, alongside the ever-popular vintage and collectibles section, making it a one-stop holiday shopping experience.

This year, the event introduces a Thrift Department, where shoppers can find upcycled fashion accessories at bargain prices. Food lovers are in for a treat, with options like Christmas cakes, loaves, cookies, and more. Shoppers can even place special orders for porch planters, charcuterie boards, and portable tea parties.

Event Details:

  • Admission: Free

  • Parking: Free

  • Accessibility: Wheelchair accessible

All proceeds support the Stephen Lewis Foundationโ€™s Grandmothers Campaign, which aids African grandmothers caring for children orphaned by AIDS.

See You There! We have a full Christmas Schedule coming out on November 12, 2024.
