 ⚽️ Join NWSC for a Spooktacular Women's Soccer Match and Food Drive

The New Westminster Soccer Club (NWSC) is committed to fostering participation, fair play, and skill development in soccer for all ages, from U4 to adult. As part of this mission, we are inviting all NWSC girl’s soccer teams to join us in supporting the women’s team for a special Spooktacular Match on Sunday, October 27th at 5:00 PM at Mercer Stadium Turf! 👻🎃⚽️

Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations for the "Don't Go Hungry: A Food Support Program." The Blackout team will be on hand to collect donations, and any contributions are greatly appreciated to help those in need.

We look forward to seeing you there for a fun evening of soccer and community support!

 🥶 Council Moves Forward with Plan for Downtown Winter Shelter Amid Concerns

New Westminster is moving forward with a proposal to open a temporary 24/7 winter shelter downtown, providing 25 beds for the unhoused from Nov. 1 to April 30. The shelter, operated by Lookout Housing and Health Society, aims to reduce the risks of extreme weather for the homeless population. While some concerns about its impact on local businesses were raised, the council largely supported the plan, approving a three-year Temporary Use Permit.
