🗨️ Calling All Halloween Lovers: Join the Quayside Spook-tacular This October

Join the Quayside Spook-tacular This October

This Halloween, families and businesses in Quayside and Downtown New Westminster are invited to participate in a spooky celebration along the boardwalk on Wednesday, October 31, from 5:00-8:00 PM. The event will be held along the Rivermarket-Quayside Promenade corridor, where trick-or-treaters can enjoy festive fun in a safe and exciting atmosphere.

The community is calling on local businesses, families, and groups to help set the scene and hand out candy to young ghosts and goblins. Whether you’d like to host a festive activity or simply decorate a table and pass out treats, your involvement will make this a night to remember! Businesses and buildings that participate will also be featured in event promotions, adding to the excitement.

Bonus Activity: Enter the pumpkin carving contest hosted by Family Place by displaying your carved pumpkin along the boardwalk, and you can win an awesome prize!

To get involved, RSVP by emailing [email protected] to confirm how you'd like to participate. Volunteers, decorated tables, and jack-o'-lantern contest entries are all needed to help bring the event to life.

Spread the word by tagging @newwestfamilies on social media and using the hashtag #halloweenonthequay2024 to help create a magical night for the community.

This event is organized in partnership with several local friends, and don’t miss out on the October Scavenger Hunt, which kicks off the month of spooky celebrations.

The Communications Security Establishment (CSE) is urging Canadians to stay vigilant against increasing cyber threats, particularly fraud and phishing scams. The CSE's Get Cyber Safe campaign, launched in 2011, aims to raise awareness about cyber security. As more people access online services, individuals—especially those aged 65 and older—are becoming more vulnerable to cybercrime. In a 2024 survey, one in four Canadians reported falling victim to malware or phishing attacks.

To help protect against these threats, the CSE advises using strong passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, and being cautious of phishing attempts. The campaign also provides resources and tools, including an online quiz to test users' cyber security knowledge.
