New Westminster normally holds its annual property tax sale to auction properties with delinquent taxes around this time. The good news is there will be no property tax sale this year. Notices for the sale would be published as per the Community Charter. Bidders must register in advance, bring certified funds, and meet age and ID requirements. Property owners have a 12-month window to reclaim their properties before titles are transferred to the successful bidders.
Hidden beneath the bustling City Hall of New Westminster is a delightful and budget-friendly cafeteria offering simple yet satisfying meals. The Five Eleven Bistro, located on the basement level of City Hall, is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 2 PM. This cozy spot has become a favorite for regulars, where friendly staff greet customers with smiles and even remember their names.
The bistro's menu is refreshingly affordable, with breakfast plates starting at just $3, and sandwiches from $4. For a heartier option, their clubhouse sandwich or the breakfast special is priced at $6.70, making it the most expensive item on the menu. It’s the perfect spot for a quick and economical meal without compromising on taste.
Visitors can enjoy free parking at the location, making it convenient for anyone looking to grab a bite. After your meal, take a relaxing stroll around the scenic front of the building and enjoy the surrounding area.
