Closures start October 6th - 5 nights

The Pattullo Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions overnight on Sunday, October 6, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for inspection, seismic monitoring, and repairs. Following this closure, the bridge will undergo directional closures for the next four nights to complete related work.

Closure Schedule:

  • Sunday, Oct. 6: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Both directions

  • Monday, Oct. 7: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Southbound into Surrey

  • Tuesday, Oct. 8: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Northbound into New Westminster

  • Wednesday, Oct. 9: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Southbound into Surrey

  • Thursday, Oct. 10: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Northbound into New Westminster

During these closures, a snooper truck will be used for annual inspection and railing repairs, occupying multiple lanes. This maintenance also includes testing of the bridge’s Seismic Early Warning and Wind Monitoring System.

Alternative Routes: Drivers are advised to use the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges. N19 NightBus services will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges during the closures. The bridge will remain accessible for pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders.

Traffic signage and control personnel will be in place, and drivers should expect up to 30 minutes of additional travel time. TransLink encourages customers to check Transit Alerts and use Trip Planner for updated information.

Katherena Vermette, a celebrated Michif (Red River Métis) writer from Winnipeg, Manitoba, will be discussing her upcoming novel, real ones, on Tuesday, October 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Pacific Time at the New West Public Library. Vermette's work has earned widespread acclaim, including her 2013 Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry for North End Love Songs and her national bestselling novels The Break, The Strangers, and The Circle.

In real ones, her highly anticipated fourth novel set to release in Fall 2024, Vermette tells the story of sisters confronting past trauma after their mother is exposed for falsely claiming an Indigenous identity, a topic gaining increased attention in the media. During the event, Vermette will be in conversation with Michelle Cyca, an award-winning writer, exploring these complex themes in an insightful dialogue.

Vermette's literary career spans multiple genres, including works for children and young adults like The Girl and The Wolf and her graphic novel series A Girl Called Echo. With a Master of Fine Arts from UBC and an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Manitoba, Vermette’s voice is integral to contemporary Canadian literature.

This event promises to be a compelling conversation addressing identity, trauma, and Indigenous representation. Don't miss the chance to hear Vermette’s insights about her new work and its relevance in today's cultural landscape.
