Century House in New Westminster invites the community to its Fall Thrift & Craft Sale, a delightful shopping event showcasing an array of handmade crafts, secondhand treasures, and baked goods. Shoppers can explore a wide variety of items, including quilts, tools, jewelry, art, books, plants, electronics, collectibles, and more.
The event welcomes payments by cash, credit, or debit, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags to carry their finds.
Century House, situated in Moody Park, has been a cornerstone for adults aged 50 and older since its opening in 1958 by Princess Margaret. It offers a wide range of programs and activities aimed at fostering meaningful connections, personal growth, and community engagement. The center operates under the ethos of “Go! Get! Give!”:
Go: Attend events, classes, or trips to stay involved and active.
Get: Gain new skills, build friendships, stay fit, and enjoy the benefits of participation.
Give: Contribute by volunteering, supporting others, and giving back to the community.
Century House is recognized as one of Canada’s oldest municipally run seniors' centers and continues to lead in providing holistic programs for its members. Its services range from fitness and wellness to arts, music, language skills, and counseling, all detailed in its Active Living Guide and monthly brochure, The Clarion.
This Fall Thrift & Craft Sale is another example of Century House’s commitment to fostering vibrant community connections and offering enriching activities for seniors..

Industry Arcade Returns: Approval Secured for Extended Operation and New Upgrades
Good news for fans of New Westminster’s Industry Arcade! After a period of uncertainty, the arcade has received approval to continue operating part-time during non-industrial hours, as it has done for the past four years. Additionally, the green light has been given for the construction of a second bathroom, which will further enhance the space for visitors.
While the arcade shares its location with East Van Amusements, which focuses on vending and pop-up rentals, this new approval ensures that Industry Arcade can continue providing its unique brand of fun to the community. The 2025 schedule is now open for bookings, with a planned two-week closure early in the year to complete the bathroom build-out. The specific dates will be announced closer to the time.
“This is such a relief,” shared owners Kyle and Amanda Seller. “Getting past these hurdles means so much, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support. The community’s kindness and willingness to share our story have made a huge difference in helping us get back on our feet.”
Continuing the Legacy
Industry Arcade, with its nostalgic charm and rotating collection of 45 games, has been a beloved destination for locals since its opening. Offering timed play sessions on weekends and select weeknights, the arcade has become a hub for celebration, connection, and lighthearted fun. The latest developments ensure that this community gem will remain a vibrant part of New Westminster’s entertainment scene for the foreseeable future.
Kyle and Amanda are excited for the year ahead and promise to keep patrons updated with further news and improvements as they come.
